Positive Connection Tour

Steps will kick-off with a Positive Connection Tour starting 2 March 2009, traveling across 12 states nationwide, touching more than 100,000 young hearts in 120 high schools, colleges and universities. A team of 25 Positive Mentors comprising of active, young and vibrant students, dancers and musicians will take the lead in this 3-month outreach Positive Connection Tour. These 25 selected Positive Mentors is trained to facilitate in the PEACE School educational programs.

PEACE School program

The PEACE (Promote, Educate & Action via Creative Execution) School program is a series of educational and training programs conceptualized by the Malaysian Aids Council (MAC) in bringing a real life HIV/AIDS awareness to the youths. Every participant will go through a half-day 3-level interactive educational process.

Champions Drill

With its theme – “Move to Inspire”, Project Steps inspires young people throughout the whole nation in spreading a powerful message through the Champions Drill. The Champions Drill is a combination of inspirational dance steps with a young & lively percussion music blended for perfection with a professional DJ mixing.
Every participant who has completed the PEACE School program will be taught the Champions Drill. In one voice, one unison, these youths will come together at the end of the PEACE School program dancing and voicing their hearts out through the Champions Drill.

Steps Ambassadors

Steps Ambassadors comprises of people from all walks of life – musicians, dancers, politicians, DJs, celebrities, TV personalities and influential corporate figures. Official Steps Ambassadors will participate in a 2-hour interactive training program conducted by the Malaysian Aids Council.

This 2-hour program consists of a 30-minute crash briefing about Steps and a 90-minute interactive training on HIV/AIDS and youth of our country. The objective of this training program is to provide the Ambassadors with sufficient knowledge and a clear understanding of the cause of Steps.

HIV Champions

Youths who participated and successfully completed the PEACE School program will eventually qualify as a HIV Champion. These HIV Champions will create a network of young people nationwide uniting in one voice actively fighting and pushing back HIV/AIDS.
This is the most vital part of the entire Steps brand, as youths inspired to effect a positive change will use this platform as a HIV Champion to be actively involve to continue in supporting this cause through various channels and approaches ie. fund raising, awareness campaign, promoting Steps in their community, organizing community outreach programs and becoming a youth volunteer with the Malaysian Aids Council.

Inspire Concert – World AIDS Day 2009

The grand finale of Steps is the Inspire Concert where more than 30,000 HIV Champions, Steps Ambassadors and the public come together to step up and make their voices heard. HIV Champions throughout the 12 different states will simultaneously hold their local Steps event on the same day.

The Inspire Concert is scheduled to be held on the Saturday before World Aids Day in Kuala Lumpur. A live telecast throughout the nationwide will be aired; connecting the 12 states’ Steps events in one same time.
